Gotta say it ... cartoons rock!

Okay, I've had it. Movies, TV, newspapers, the Internet ... are all marketing fear! Dadgummit - why is it that fear sells? You mean to tell me that if I don't use a certain kind of toothpaste or certain kind of deodorant that I'll be outsted from society until I do - and while I'm at it, I better buy a certain kind of car and wear certain types of clothing or I'm done for?

I've been taking a poll - and listening to conversations on the sly. I've noticed something that advertisers would do well to pay attention to. People talk about the really funny commercials! You know the ones - they're the ones that poke fun at human nature, animal behavior and baby intelligence that makes us all laugh at ourselves and feel all warm and fuzzy.

Comic relief is priceless and learning how to laugh at ourselves puts us all at ease, not to mention builds relationships and trust. Who would you rather spend an afternoon with, The Boogy Man or the guys from "Who's Line is It Anyway?"

People linger over cartoons, they flip through books to find the cartoons and the first thing they look at in a magazine article is the cartoon.... so, why aren't more businesses using humor in their marketing?

Have you ever had one of those rolled up flyers stuck in your front door and just ripped it off and thrown it in the trash? Would you if there was a cartoon on the front? I haven't met a person yet who didn't at least unroll the flyer to read the cartoon ... and THEN throw it in the trash.

At least the cartoon got your foot in their eye ... err... door, I mean. Think about it. The more people feel warm and fuzzy about your services, the more likely they are to not only become a customer, but the more they are to become fiercely loyal ... even cult like! Ever see a T-shirt with a logo on it that someone bought to wear? How cool is that? They buy YOUR shirt with YOUR logo and where ever they go they are advertising YOU.

Flyer ... cartoon ... a charming and funny character ... a flyer series, then a T-shirt ... a cult following and before you know it - you rule the world! BROO HA HA HA!
